There Are No Outside Issues: QTBIPOC Folks Navigating Recovery Beyond a 12 Step Framework

A talk by golden collier, Nanea Renteria and Erica Woodland Black Queer Trans Recovery, Diasporan Savant Press, & The Recovery Justice Podcast & National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network

This session is for Queer and Trans People of the Global Majority only.

There are many paths to recovery, and while 12-step works for some, its hegemonic positioning as the only valid path is inaccurate, marginalizing, and damaging. This conversation seeks to re-center and honor the many ways in which we as Queer and Trans People of the Global Majority tap into all the aspects of our beings that are often considered “outside issues” in 12-step - our cultures, our ancestral connections, our somatic practices, etc-  to support us and enrich our recovery and healing in ways that necessarily broaden the path for everyone.

This conversation was organized by golden collier (they ♡ he) of Diasporan Savant Press, a multidisciplinary artist and facilitator based in West Philadelphia. Their work often orbits the themes of self-determination, healing, and empowerment for QTBIPOC and their favorite mediums currently include film, movement, printmaking, and book arts.
